Year 6

Welcome to the Year 6 page of the Honilands Website.

Autumn Term

Last term, Year 6 took part in a range of enjoyable and practical activities, including their fabulous trip to PGL. They explored cooking by tasting elements of a ploughman’s lunch and making apple crumble, shortbread, and rarebit muffins. Pupils were rewarded for completing jobs, helping to build responsibility and teamwork. The term ended on a high note as they proudly helped serve Christmas dinner, contributing to a festive, memorable experience.

Spring Term

This term in Year 6, we have immersed ourselves in the world of Shakespeare by exploring two of his plays: A Midsummer Night's Dream and Macbeth. Additionally, we have advanced our Spanish language skills, focusing on sports and, most recently, describing a day at the funfair.

In history, we have reached the World War II era, where we are studying and comparing the differing experiences of men, women, and children during that time. Year 6 students have also taken on new responsibilities around the school, enjoying their roles and the rewards that come with them. We have participated in several whole-school events, including World Book Day and British Science Week.
