Ofsted

Our Most Recent Ofsted Report – June 2022

Following our Ofsted inspection on 7th and 8th June 2022, we are proud to report that Honilands Primary School was graded ‘Good’ across all areas: the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision.

This marked a significant improvement from our previous inspection, reflecting the hard work, dedication and ambition of our staff, pupils, governors and wider community.

The inspectors praised the inclusive, nurturing and happy environment at Honilands, where pupils feel safe and are supported by strong relationships with staff. They recognised our calm, purposeful classrooms, high expectations, and the excellent support for pupils with SEND. Reading is a priority across the school, with consistent phonics teaching and rapid support to help every child become a fluent, confident reader.

The report highlighted our rich curriculum, designed to meet the needs of all pupils, and our vibrant personal development offer – including opportunities to take on responsibility, engage in the arts, and contribute positively to the community. Our pupils' creativity was celebrated through initiatives like the Words Not Walls poetry mural and campaigns to promote healthy lifestyles.

The one area identified for development was ensuring that pupils consistently remember key knowledge across all subjects. We have already acted on this, embedding retrieval practices and assessment routines to support long-term learning.

As we prepare to convert to academy status and join the Children First Academy Trust in September 2025, Honilands will technically become a new school entity. However, our commitment to high standards, inclusivity and strong values remains unchanged. The current Ofsted report will remain publicly available to provide assurance of the high-quality education and care we provide.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Thank you for your ongoing support — this achievement belongs to our whole Honilands community.
