Pupil Premium

At Honilands Primary School we have the highest expectations for all of our students. We are an inclusive school that supports every student to ensure that they reach their full potential, both academically and socially.

The government views the Pupil Premium as a crucial supplement to primary school funding, aimed at addressing disparities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their more privileged peers. The allocation of this funding, per FSM pupil, empowers schools to tailor additional support according to their students' needs. While schools have autonomy in deciding how to utilize the Pupil Premium, they are expected to justify their spending, particularly in aiding pupils from low-income families.

Our primary goal with the Pupil Premium Grant is to narrow the achievement gap among student demographics. We diligently monitor the progress of all student groups to ensure they are making satisfactory strides academically.

We rigorously evaluate our expenditure of the allocated funds to gauge their impact on the academic performance of Pupil Premium students. A significant portion of our funding is channeled into enrichment programs aimed at enhancing the confidence and skill sets of our students, ensuring they thrive across all areas of the curriculum and that they access experiences that would otherwise not be available to them. .

The amount we receive is based upon the number of pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as ‘Ever 6 FSM’); children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months; and children of service personnel.
