Year 3

Welcome to the Year 3 page of the Honilands Website.

Autumn Term

Year 3 is where children begin to develop greater independence and confidence in their learning. This term, they have begun fostering a love of languages through the exciting introduction of Spanish. Pupils have explored their creativity by designing imaginative mythical art pieces and have deepened their understanding of History by using playdough to bring the past to life. A memorable school trip further enhanced their learning and real-world understanding, while fun and exhilarating Science experiments have encouraged curiosity, exploration, and a love of discovery.

Spring Term

This spring term, Year 3 had a fantastic and busy time filled with exciting learning experiences and memorable activities. The children thoroughly enjoyed their cinema trip, which was a wonderful treat and a great opportunity to relax together. During World Book Day, they celebrated their love of reading by dressing up as their favourite characters and sharing stories with enthusiasm.

As part of British Science Week, the class took part in fun and engaging shadow experiments, exploring how light and dark work together to create different shapes and effects. In history, the children developed their understanding of Ancient Greece, learning about Greek life, myths, and achievements.

The class also took part in lively debates, where they practised expressing their opinions and listening to others. During Parent Day, the children proudly shared their learning and classroom experiences with their families. To round off the term, they collaborated on a whole-class art project, showcasing their creativity and teamwork. It has been a joyful and enriching term, and the children should be very proud of all they have achieved.
